March Taylor lived his life always doing the right thing. He believed that the auto body industry made him the success he was and wanted to continue the passion for it with others who cared.
March Taylor strived to support the community and share his knowledge with young people, encouraging them to consider careers in the collision industry. There is an increased importance for qualified technicians and training is available to further benefit professionals in the field of auto body work.
FOR VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
Are you interested in pursuing a career in auto body repair and painting?ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
A candidate for this scholarship must be a resident of Hawai‘i Island, with preference given to students from West Hawai‘i, and plan to enroll in an auto body repair and painting program at a vocational educational school or technical or vocational educational program within an accredited community college.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants will need to submit:
- Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s Vocational Education Scholarship Application Form
- a personal statement describing your personal background and interests, the vocational program you plan to pursue, your career goals, and any information that demonstrates you are a worthy candidate
a letter of recommendation from someone such as a teacher, counselor, employer or mentor in support of your application (letter must have been written within the last six months, contain your full name and must be signed)

Spring 2009 Scholarship Recipient
Amber Ziegler. Amber is a Hilo High School Graduate who attended Hawaii Community College in Hilo. Amber emerged as a leader and respected by her classroom peers while overcoming the obstacle of being the only female among them as well as being a single mother. She had perfect attendance and shows tremendous potential for the auto repair industry. Congratulations Amber!
